CAMPUS LIFE

Image
Life at university can be pretty hectic!Starting a new life in the university can be a mixed bag of emotions, whether you're worried and full of pressure, buzzing with excitement or even both, there will be a realization that a new chapter in your life is about to commence. Today,as i write this baffled in the attempt to figure out where these last months have gone,I've realised that university has shaped me into an independent person, ready to cross any hurdle in my path.I've learned that it's not that difficult to make new friends and my focus academically and in my personal life has become clearer Well, when i first joined university(TUM)adjusting to me seemed to be a mission, making new friends and trying to fit in felt harder than the university itself. It took me quite some time to make new friends,As everything started coming together,i began to see the brighter side of things and started making new friends. Tests may have been a disaster but they motivated me to do b...

YOUTH REVOLUTION

Image
Countries like Kenya, which have a relatively youthful population, stand on the runway of economic take-off if they find the correct formula to harness the energy, creativity and entrepreneurship that young people have to offer. The youth are an economic force that can both drive and create demand for goods and services especially due to the growing digital economy. However, even with this major advantage,Kenya also faces the attendant risk of ensuring that the youths do not fall prey to political machinations that can turn them into dynamite especially in the run-up to general elections.   How then can Kenya position itself to benefit from its youthful demographic while avoiding the potential political pitfall? One of the answers is to be found in the government's big four agenda. When the government directly facilitates investment in attaining food security, building homes, ensuring affordable health care,Young people are in direct line to benefit from these investments. My view h...

HOMELESSNESS AND THE CLIMATE CRISIS

Image
Not only are rising temperatures a danger to individuals already experiencing homelessness, extreme weather events driven by our changing climate are leaving more and more people with nowhere to turn. When the world gets warmer,it impacts real people's lives.People just like you are suffering right now because of the change of climate, and some are unfairly impacted more than others. Carbon pollution from burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas is warming our planet and driving climate change. It's throwing natural systems out of balance to often devastating effect. We know that front line communities, particularly those of color and low income families, experience many of the climate crisis impacts first and worst.      What Can You Do? For people struggling to make ends meet, the climate crisis is a threat multiplier. Not only do they experience the worsening weather, the rising infectious diseases, but they also must contend with the dread that accompanies one...

MOMBASA'S GREATEST ASSET

Image
The Mombasa port is a prized asset for Kenya,It not only facilitates the country's shipping trade but also serves as a strategic asset for the East Africa Region. The port plays an important role in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as it is the gateway to East and Central Africa. It handles imports and exports for Kenya,Uganda,Rwanda,Democratic Republic of Congo,South Sudan and Burundi. The rail and road networks built by the Chinese, suggests improved hinterland connectivity in Africa.History shows that Portuguese,Indian,Persian and Arab traders also used Mombasa as an entry point into East Africa. The Chinese were adamant about Mombasa port being a part of the railway line because they wanted the KPA to be the guarantor if the Kenya Railways Corporation(KRC) defaulted in its obligations.Had the Kenyan government demurred, the project would never have taken off.The Chinese then put in an additiona...

WALK AWAY

Image
We tend to stay in toxic relationships since we tell ourselves that it's hard to let someone go,but it's not as hard as we think-we just choose not to cut them off. You see,we are so attached to this person and we are so used to having them, not being there anymore doesn't sit well with us even if they cause us pain,we choose to have them in our lives, even if they become toxic to our hearts,we hold on to all the instances when they were not bad for us and we use that as an excuse not to leave them.It is self-destructive,this constant justificatory cycle that we find ourselves in-making excuses for their actions, just because leaving them would cause us pain, rather than focusing  on the fact that having them in our lives isn't any better.Yes they make us happy but if the pain they cause is as much-then we must let them go. We hold on to people who hurt us just because they make us happy, and that is what doesn't make sense about us.If you're old enough to underst...

It Wasn't Meant To Be

Sometimes it just doesn't work out,it just doesn't,No matter how hard you try to glue your hearts together, how hard you try to fix it and no matter how much you talk about the sticky stuff, the painful stuff, the hard, messy, hurts-to-remember stuff you can't move on from it.You can't forget the hurt that they caused and how lonely they made you feel-every single time that they put you last. You can't forget the expectations that you had and how they let you down time and time again. You can't go back to the gentle love you had for them when you first met-because now that feeling has been replaced with disappointment, with regret, with wishing that things hadn't gone this way but knowing that you can't go back in time-because now too much happened and you've both said things that you can't take back.  Sometimes it doesn't work out because you not only bring the best out in each other but the worst too.And the worst part is-knowing that they coul...
